Bonding Application

What is Bonding?

Bonding is an aesthetic dentistry method used to quickly and effectively correct minor imperfections of the teeth. This procedure is performed by applying composite resin material to the tooth surface, shaping, hardening and polishing it.

Benefits and Disadvantages of Bonding

Low Cost:
Bonding is a more economical option than other aesthetic dentistry procedures.

Fast and Completed in One Session:
Bonding is usually completed in one session and gives fast results.

No Abrasion Required:
Bonding is applied without any abrasion on the tooth surface.

Ease of Repair:
Bonding material can be easily repaired. Small fractures can be fixed in a few minutes.

Risk of Discoloration:
Bonding material tends to discolor over time.

Fragility:
Bonding can break if not handled carefully, but is easy to repair.

Bonding and Lamina Comparison

Cost: Lower cost. Time: Usually completed in one session. Abrasion: No etching is required. Color: Stays true to the natural tooth color, does not change the overall tooth color. Usage: Effective in closing tooth gaps.
Cost: More costly. Time: May require more than one session. Abrasion: Requires minimal abrasion on the tooth surface. Color: Can change the overall color of the teeth as desired. Usage: Effective in correcting more complex aesthetic problems.

How is Bonding Application Performed?

Examination and Planning:
Your dentist will assess the condition of your teeth and determine if they are suitable for bonding.

Tooth Preparation:
The tooth surface is lightly roughened and the bonding agent is applied.

Resin Application:
The composite resin material is applied on the tooth and hardened by giving the desired shape.

Polishing and Final Control:
The hardened resin is polished to obtain a natural tooth appearance.
